Les Douglas
A very beautiful manor (little castle, 500m2) built by the architect Horta, completely renovated and smartly decorated). It stands in the middle of the Molignée valley, on a domain of 3,5 hect. It is a beautiful house, which is located on the Maredsous plateau, between the bushes.

Victor Horta was a leading Belgian Art Nouveau architect who designed buildings complete with matching furniture. Although the organic forms of Art Nouveau as developed by Horta, don't correspond with the standard idea about modern architecture, Horta's ideas were predecessing the later views of many modernists. Horta hereby marked the beginning of modern architecture. Horta built the house as a token of appreciation for the goldsmith that worked for him. This worker in precious metals chose the location of the house. For this reason the house was built in a rural environment, although it was customary for Horta to build in urban areas. Many pieces of furniture designed by Horta no longer exist. The stairwell, the typical doors and the stones of the window-work however remain as characteristic elements.Cleaning : Included
