The OLD HOMESTEAD B&B invites you to a unique place to stay while staying in a unique place,Homer Alaska. This quaint little fishing town on the Kachamak Bay is teaming with things to see and do. You will find some of the best fishing in the world, which Alaska is famous for. Here you will also see wildlife in coupious quanities. Bring your camera! The Old Homestead is just that. It was built in the 40s and sold to Carl Wynn founder of Wynns Oil corp. who had it restored and enlarged. With all the ameties that you would expect from a first class accomodation. From satellite TV, to a grand sauna and hot-tub big enough for 8 persons you will certainly feel the warmth of Alaskan hospitality. We are located about 6 miles from the center of the town of Homer, up the famous Skyline drive. This drive is one of the best scenic view trips you will ever take, with breath taking panorama views of the Kenai mountain ranges with its many snow capped peaks sticking up out of the Kachemak Bays blue waters. Our own little paradise. Come on up for a visit. you will not be disapointed! Homer is a sportsman paradise. This is definately a destination location. The Harding icefield feeds the many Glaciers you can see from Skyline drive going to the lodge. The Kachemak Bay in the foreground is teaming with aquatic life which boast the Halibut fishing capital of the world ! The opportunities available for the photographer is also wonderful with lots of local wildlife in our Nature protected location. We are surrounded by the Wynns Nature Center which has lots of maintained trails and outlook post. This is a winter wonderland as well with the best X-country Skiing on the planet! Shopping in Homer
For the shopper. Homer has only about 15000 residents it has more resturants and shops per capita than just about anywhere. We have also quaint Art galleries that dot the community which will give you hours of exploration options. Homer also has a community theater and now a just completed year round indoor ice rink. Car rental available in town. Finding a Charter boat is no problem for we have one of the largest harbors in the entire region. All of these attractions can be found in the town of Homer only about 6 scenic miles from the Homestead lodge.
