Norway Direct has great pleasure in offering you a “Back to Nature” holiday experience... Situated in the pine clad forests of Southern Norway... is the Furu Lee Cabin. .(Means Pine Glade) Offering s seclusion and solitude but not isolation. The Cabin is typical of the Norwegian Way of Life... These are the places the typical Norwegian family would escape to at week ends and holidays... It has no electricity or running water! However... if you want to experience life ... as the Norwegians do... then don't let this put you off! This is a family standard cabin at a reasonable price...
It has an open fire and wood stove to keep you snug and warm...All wood is free... so there is no need to worry about keeping warm... even in a snowy Norwegian Winter!
Paraffin lamps and candles... and a solar panel for basic lighting. How romantic... !
Water... although water must be brought into the cabin in containers... Don't let this put you off either... There is a washing area where you can have a strip wash . However... also you can use the local health club for showering .. and use the sauna which is within 15mins drive of the cabin.

On the cabin door step are walks, some of the best fishing in Southern Norway and swimming or ice skating, canoeing or ice fishing (depending on the season) or just relaxing in the famous Norwegian pure and fresh air. Each Season has something different to offer. Winter. with the often snow clad hills. Cross country skiing then back to your own log fire. Ice skating on the frozen lakes. As this area is about 200 metres above sea level. More often or not there is snow. Summer, what a contrast. ! Often in the 30's this region of Norway often has a Summer to compare with the Med.... Exploring the 365 Islands on the nearby lake Vegar., Canoeing, Perfect for that romantic week away from it all. All this is just a short trip from the UK.
Wild Brown Trout! and frozen lakes...
Activities Winter: Depending on snow conditions you can cross country ski everywhere around the cabin, forging your own tracks in virgin snow. There is a small local ski center at Vegårshei (12 km/7miles away) and if there is not sufficient snow, there are inland mountain downhill slopes 60km/40miles away (about 1 hours drive) Note: these cabins are located in Southern Norway and at a lower altitude than the ski resorts further inland. Snow is likely but not guaranteed. If it doesn't snow, low temperatures will however make the landscape and icy lakes beautiful. In previous years snow has started in November and lasted until February.
Fishing
To go fishing in lake (even if you are not a keen angler) Vegår is one the most exciting things you can experience in our region. So… if you are a professional fly fisherman after the lake Vegår ”wild Brownie” of up to 7 kilos or a five year old trying spinning for perch for the first time, there is something for you.
The lake Vegår land owners association have worked hard in preparing the area for country sports lovers. They have mapped the whole area building boat launching ramps, jetties suitable for the handicapped, marked hiking trails and forest clearing to make the area suitable and accesable to all. You may fish with all normal fishing tackle including the unusual Norwegian ”oter”… net fishing is only allowed with special permission.
You will find Wild Brown Trout, Perch and eels in Lake Vegår.
You will need a permit to fish
50 NOK per day
100 NOK per net (Max 3 nets)

Lake Vegår is the main lake of the area, with 20sqkm/12sqmiles and 365 islands. People go there in summer to swim or canoe and then relax by an open fire, and year round to fish. Wild life .. deer, elk (moose) beaver and various birds of prey and the occasional wolf roam the local forests...
Setting ...The cabin is set at 720ft/220m above sea level 100 metres from the road in quiet seclusion, with views of a small lake, gentle hills and endless forests. The only sounds are nature, the wind, and the gentle jingle of sheep bells. There are a few small cabins in the area.. the closest being approx 70 metres. However they are usually only used at the weekends by heir owners... It is not a commercial cabin site.
It is possible to organise a guide for fishing... and or an Elk (moose)and Beaver Safari. He will pick up by boat from the local lake and show you where the large trout are! BOOK TODAY!
