The Tropical Beach Cabana, Hikkaduwa
The Tropical Beach Cabana is superbly located right on the beach at Thiranagama just south of the centre of the popular Sri Lankan resort of Hikkaduwa, right in the middle of the largest and most beautiful bay in the South West of Sri Lanka. The cabana provides individuals and couples with a very comfortable base from where to enjoy everything that the area has to offer, such as surfing, diving, snorkelling, fishing or just basking on the beach in Sri Lankan sunshine! After watching the last of the sun dip down into the Indian Ocean, take a stroll along the beach and sample some of Hikkaduwa's nightlife. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to see local fishermen hauling in their catch or later on at night, a turtle coming ashore to lay her eggs! Enjoy all the advantages that come with renting your own beach-area holiday villa in Hikkaduwa and take everything else at your own pace! Chintaka, the beach housekeeper will happily arrange Ayurvedic massages, surfing, fishing, diving and canoeing trips as well as BBQs and Hikkaduwa area and Sri Lanka-wide tours. The cobana can accommodate 2 people (a couple) and can be rented separately or in conjunction with the Tropical Beach House, Hikkaduwa (Ref: 9047).

Hikkaduwa Area Information
Sri Lanka is a magical place of ancient Buddhist monuments, gorgeous beaches, lush green vegetation, clear blue skies, sunshine and friendly faces. The tropical beach cabana at Hikkaduwa is a great place to unwind, sample the local surfing and diving opportunities, and from where you can then start to explore this stunningly beautiful island. Hikkaduwa ---------- Hikkaduwa is located 100km south of the country's capital, Colombo. The area is well-known for its coral sanctuary and the proximity of wonderful scuba diving sites to explore. With its unique beach culture, Hikkaduwa has long been the most popular diving and surfing area in Sri Lanka. In the centre of Hikkaduwa, a lagoon also creates a beautiful and safe snorkelling area. Further south, where the currents are stronger, surfing is the dominant water activity. The impressive coral reef runs just offshore and is populated by exotic fish and sea turtles that come ashore on this beach to lay their eggs. Hikkaduwa: Eating and Drinking The Hikkaduwa area is well-served with good quality, local restaurants and a variety of night time venues. Hikkaduwa: Surfing and Diving Diving ------ The diving at Hikkaduwa is diverse and there is an abundance of marine life and dive sites to suit all levels of experience. Big groupers, barracudas, moray eels, dogtooth tunas, manta rays, lobsters & turtles are often to be seen just off the coast at Hikkaduwa. A large number of wrecks have floundered off the coast in this area over the years, adding to the range of dive sites available. The diving season in the south west runs from November to April and there are a number of well-established diving centres from which to choose with Blue Deep being one of the best! Surfing ------- Hikkaduwa is a very well known surfing destination on the international circuit and annually attracts surfers from all over the world. There are plenty of good surfing points and although most of them are reef breaks, none of them is risky since they all have a flat deep bottom. The wave size ranges up to 3 metres during the season. The main point, known as the main reef has 'A-frame' shaped waves, which can be surfed in both directions.

The tropical beach cabana has been designed to provide you with simple Western-style home comforts in a tropical beachside setting. Chintaka, our housekeeper will be on hand to try his best to cater to your group's wishes! The cobana comes complete with: * Beautiful mahongany kitchette. * Large veranda with hammock * Attached bathroom with hot water shower * Locally-made furniture and a coconut wood bed with a spring double mattresses * Room cooler unit * All bed linen and towels are included. However, please bring your own beach towels The cobana can accommodate 2 people (a couple). We can also provide an additional cot, if necessary.
