The Lovlia Log Cabins...
The Lovlia Log cabins are situated on an elevated plot over looking the Lovdal lake. It is not islolated as it is situated approx. 50 metres from the main house. But it is private... Although they are of a "rustic" nature... they are small (16 sq metres) but have a very warm and cosy intimate atmoshere... Instead of dining and sleeping in the same cabin... there is a collection of small buildings... Ideal for the small family... Or a romantic "break" for a couple. They comprise of the main log cabin... which although is just one room is complete with the bed and lounge furniture... Eating is done in the closely situated "BBQ" cabin which you will have exclusive use of... Complete with reindeer skins... and two single bed places. It also has a gass cooker for regular cooking. The BBQ cabin is the ideal place for entertaining... Grill your own food... winter or summer... and sit round the BBQ with friends and family... a unique experience. The wood fired "HOT TUB" completes the atmoshere, sip wine under the stars ... have a sauna and relax. The wooded area is lit in the evening to give the perfect romantic atmoshere. There is a small water fall... within a few metre of the cabin... (Dry in the height of the summer)... Forest walks directly from the cabins. Although some of the paths can be quite steep... so some care needs to be taken. Not really suitable for the very young, elderly or infirm. You can fish trout and the occasional salmon in the lake... We can organise a trip to put nets out so fresh fish for breakfast is virtually guaranteed! The lake is just a few minutes walk. Or have a peaceful canoe trip... in search of the the resident beavers in the lake. Moose (elk) and deer roam the forest... and there is an abundance of bird life. Berry picking is a Norwegian national pastime... with cranberries and blueberries outside the cabin door. (In season)

The Cabins
Although the cabins are new ... we have chosen to fit modern biological toilets... Which are very eco-friendly. Water is drawn from the utility cabin... for filling the "HOT TUB". We have another flat to let within the main house. (50 metres away). It maybe possible to use the shower if it is required. Normally the "HOT TUB is suffient".... to keep clean. Lovlia is a "Back to Nature" experience. But modern failities are available as and when required.

Risor and local atractions.
Summer. Risor is a white painted NEW ENGLAND style town with 15 minutes drive of the Lovlia Cabins. It is easy to fall in love with Risør. This white town on the Skagerrak is the melting pot of Sørlandet. Outer Risør has the magnificent archipelago and romantic Sørland houses which stand shoulder to shoulder around the beautiful harbour. Street life is more continental than Norwegian. There is activity all around and things are constantly going on like the Chambermusic Festival, the Arts and Crafts Festival and the International Woodenboat Festival. Risør is also known for its galleries, three of them are open all year round. During the summer comes at least three more, which is quite good concidering that Risør town has only 7.000 inhabitants. We can arange white water rafting trips in co-operation with Troll Mountain Rafting Centre. Cycles can be hired at the main house. WINTER. Although snow cannot be guaranteed... It s the norm from November onwards. There is a small family ski centre about 25 mins drive away. They hold ski jumping competitions... and is an ideal place for the children (and young at heart) to play in the snow... Within 90 mins drive there is a larger ski resort... Gautefall where you can hire skis and even adult sledges! The atmoshere in the cabins... with the out door candles lighting the way can be magical. Once the lake is frozen ... about Christmas time...
