Our holiday home is at the tip of the Kas Peninsula with spectacular views over to the Greek Island of Meis. The house is in a complex of total 8 houses in 2 blocks. Each block has two maisonettes and an apartment above. Our property is a maisonette on the groundfloor. The complex is build on a half acre of beautiful gardens overlooking the most unspoilt coastline of the Mediterranean. It is a very peaceful location, 4 km from the charming town of Kas, about a 5 minutes dolmus ride. There are several hotels and restaurants within 10 minutes walk from the holiday home from whose terraces the glorious Turkish sunset can be enjoyed. Beach platforms have been provided for guests' use and these are a 5 minute walk from the house. The crystal clear waters will provide hours of snorkelling fun for the family. Close to the house, at the beachbar of hotel Aquarius, you can use the beach terraces and use of free sun-beds, parasols, children pool, shower and toilets. Area description
Kas is a picturesque harbour town with a flavor all of its own. It has an attractive harbour front along which tea gardens, cafes and restaurants are to be found in abundance. Leading away from the harbour is a warren of winding cobbled streets full of colourful shops offering all manner of carpets, ceramics, arts and crafts. One of these streets winds around a Lycian sarcophagus for Kas is the site of the ancient Lycian port of Antiphellos. As a result the town is full of small reminders of the past including the previously mentioned sarcophagus, an amphitheatre on the peninsula and the collection of cliff tombs attractively lit at night which overlook the town. During the day Kas is deserted as everyone heads for the beaches. The town has two beaches imaginatively named Big Pebble Beach and Little Pebble Beach! Other beaches may be reached by using the fishing boats/water taxis that leave the harbour throughout the day for the ten minute journey across the bay. Alternatively take a dolmus (local bus) to visit the dramatic sandy gorge of Kaputas situated 20 minutes away on the road to Kalkan. Despite the attraction of the local beaches we would be surprised if our guests ventured too far to swim as our house on the Kas peninsula enjoys a wonderfully picturesque location with direct access to the sea. Things to see and do in the local area As the boats start returning from the beaches of an evening Kas begins to come to life with guests weary from the sun enjoying a glass of tea in one of the harbourside tea gardens. The evenings can be spent exploring the town market which is open on a daily basis and once a week becomes the main market for the entire region. From here you may walk through the colourful covered alleyway of restaurants each offering a wide variety of fresh local cuisine. The harbour town of Kalkan is only a 25 min drive away along a stunning coastal road where pine clad mountains plunge dramatically down to the turquoise blue sea. Kekova can be visited on a traditional gullet as a day trip. This stunning region was the site of a dramatic earthquake many centuries ago which tore the ancient city apart and left it submerged though partially visible. Standing proud atop the island are the ruins of a medieval castle. Greek Island of Meis is a 20 minute boat trip away and is a wonderful way to sample the Greek way of life. Olu Deniz is divided from the open sea by an astonishingly beautiful sand/shingle bar, featured widely in many Turkish tourist publications and holiday brochures. From here a vast sweep of pale golden sand and shingle runs right along the wide bay backed by towering mountains. Patara - Mediterranean's longest beach - a 16km stretch of soft, fine, cream coloured sand. Fethiye is the local market town and every Tuesday produces the wonderful sight of local farmers coming into town with their produce making the market a colourful experience with all manner of vegetables fruits spices leather goods, shoes and carpets piled high on the stalls
