Casa Allegra is located 1km from the immaculately kept hilltop village of Gualdo, le Marche. With views extending across rolling countryside to the medieval town of San Ginesio, it's a perfect rural retreat for families, friends or couples on a romantic getaway. Leave the stress of everyday life behind and relax by the pool, curl up with a book and a glass of wine, or dine under the stars and watch the dancing lights of the fireflies. Gualdo provides essential facilities such as a bank, post office, bakery, petrol station, chemist and mini market. There is a tennis court in town, a lovely park, bar and 2 ancient churches. You will find the people hospitable and welcoming to foreigners and more than willing to help if they can.

Getting around
To make the most of your holiday, it is essential that you hire a car. There are many sights to see. Begin with the spa town of Sarnano where it is possible to "take the waters" and indulge in various beauty treatments, and vist its preserved historical centre. A Roman settlement at Urbisagila, the open air opera house at Macerata second only to Verona, Ascoli Piceno with its unusual piazza of porticoes, Urbino and Camerino- the list goes on. San Marino, Perugia, Assissi are options for day trips and for those who cannot bear to be away from the city for too long, Rome and Bologna are only 3 hours away.

Le Marche offers a wide choice of restaurants and Agriturismi serving home -made food produced with the freshest ingredients. The renowned black and white truffles are grown here and sold to the best restaurants in Europe.Many good places for eating out can be found within easy reach of the property. For local wines try the white Verdicchio from Jesi and reds Rosso Piceno and Rosso Conero. Loro Piceno, a nearby village is famous for its "vino cotto" a sweet wine. Shopping opportunities abound in Le Marche with facilities ranging from modern shopping centres to boutique style shops selling beautiful designerwear. The area is full of factory outlets selling designer clothes and knitwear at discounted prices and as Le Marche is the centre of shoe manufacturing in Italy, those who are shoe freaks will save a fortune at Tod's and other similar outlets!
