The perfect "get away from it all" luxury Villa.
Until recently Koh Tao has remained a secret idyll. After last years dreadful Tsunami the first thing you should know is that Koh Tao is located in the Gulf of Thailand and therefore is both geographically safe and well protected. Twilight is a luxurious and extremely spacious Villa with every concievable "western" fittings set in approx 1 acre of grounds with Coconut Palms providing a very needed shade canopy. The name Koh Tao, translated into English, means "Turtle Island" and obtains it's name from the past when it was used as a National Turtle breeding area. It is generally accepted that Koh Tao is the most beautiful of the Islands and the reason for it's secrecy to date. Unquestionably it remains the most underdeveloped Island in the Gulf emphasised by the fact it has only one road! If it is relaxation you seek amidst beautiful coves and bays bathed in crystal clear warm waters then it is virtually guaranteed. Koh Tao is only 21 square kilometres in total. Despite there being just one road it connects all parts of the Island including a lively daily market in the main town and a great selection of coffee shops, clothes shops, restaurants and bars throughout, from the more populated West side to the busy World renown Diving sites in the East. You do not need a car as taxis abound. A taxi service at Twilight is available for any time of the day or night for a negotiable charge.

Things you might, or might not, wish to do.
Only those who knew the Gulf of Thailand were aware of the beauty of Koh Tao. Even now it still has only one road! For the person who genuinely wishes to "get away from it all", yet still have the choice of gentle activity if you want it, then Koh Tao is a perfect place. Because the Island is so small it makes all the outstanding beaches very close. The difficult choice you will have to make each day is whether to enjoy any of the beaches with a sea temperature of 28 C (82 F) year round or some gentle exertion. For example Koh Tao is World renowned for it's Diving sites amongst as yet totally unspoilt coral and courses for absolute beginners exist all the way up to Instructor status. All PADI approved. Other options include Water Ski-ing, Wake Boarding, Sailing, Longtail Boat trips, Rock Climbing or Trekking up the mountains to take in some spectacular views. If staying on the beach is your choice then a wonderful Thai massage in the shade of a tree at any time of the day to suit your mood for the ultimate relaxation. A perfect wind down before "sundowners" or a Thai siesta! Alternatively some Yoga sessions are held for those who prefer this method of relaxation. We think you will need a stay of 3 to 4 weeks, if you can stretch to it,to truly experience all the options Koh Tao has to offer. And these are just the daylight hours!!! When it gets dark there is an incredible further choice of things to do. If you stay Beachside then you should unquestionably find a beach restaurant and select a table right at the waters edge and dine "al fresco" under the starlit sky. Truly a very romantic experience with the water lapping at your feet and the gentle sound of the sea. Every beach has an assortment of restaurants from which to choose and to cater for your taste. The locally and freshly caught fish, barbequed to perfection is an absolute must. The same goes for the wonderful, unique and authentic stir fried Thai cuisine which becomes an increasing favourite the more you experience it. Naturally there are also Italian, French, Mexican, Korean and Creole cuisines if you can tear yourself away from the genuine Thai local dishes. Whilst many shops are open during the day, many more open during the evenings to cater for all the visitors who have been busy or relaxing all day. They include clothes shops, hand made Thai Silk shops, Dive shops and of course many bars in the shopping areas or on the beaches. There is even a Pizza place!

Twilight, location, location, location.
Twilight is set back a convenient 200 mtrs from the only road, enjoying the terrain of a valley and having a predominance of mature Palm Trees to create a neccessary sun canopy. Higher in the valley, huge Granite rocks add to the vista and provides an amazing contrast to the stunningly superb overall view where the tree line breaks. Because of it's location it is easy to understand why Twilight enjoys such peace and tranquility. The precise location is known as Chalok Baan Kao and firmly in the quieter section of the Island, but because of the size of the Island is still within a short distance of everything. A short stroll will take you to one particular white sandy beach and en route you will pass a whole host of locally run Thai restaurants, some European restaurants, a "supermarket" ( but to Koh Tao scale) various shops and finally a selection of beach bars to sip a drink of your choice and watch the sun go down, which is always a splendid sight. A gentle walk of 20 to 30 minutes will take you into the main town but our own taxi is available for this trip or any other you may need at a price to be negotiated. With year round wonderful weather, great protection for Koh Tao because of it's situation in the Gulf and no tectonic plate fault lines to threaten it, a natural and welcome huge safety factor is in built and exists. Twilight is ideal for a truly romantic holiday or fun filled family holidays. The choices just keep getting tougher!!
